Welcome to the Child and Parent Centre – Collie Valley.

Our Centre offers a range of programs and services for families with children aged 0 to 8 years. Everything at our Centre is FREE!

Every Monday, Tuesday and Friday we run our playgroups. Playgroups are a great way to have fun playing with your child whilst they learn lots of different things without even realising it. It’s also a great way to find parenting support and to meet other parents. Playgroups run from 9.00am to 11.00am.

We also have our Mums & Bubs – Healthy Me, Healthy You program that spans over 8 weeks. Each week offers a different fun and healthy activity for parents of babies and toddlers.  Mums, dads, carers and babies are encouraged to join in the fun.

Child health nurse appointments are available in our clinic room on Mondays and Tuesdays. We also have a Speech Pathologist available on Thursdays, a Paediatric Physiotherapist available every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, a Paediatric Occupational Therapist on Fridays and a representative of the Office of Early Childhood Development and Learning team at the Centre on Wednesdays. Please contact our Family Liaison Worker for more information and referrals.

Lego Roadshow is a fun after school program where children are encouraged to build and use their imagination whilst developing their mathematical, logical and problem solving skills. Lego Roadshow visits different schools in the community each term. Please see flyers for latest information.

We have various agencies utilising our offices that are available to access. Some services include Anglicare and 4Families. If other support services are required, you can always speak to our friendly Family Liaison Worker who may provide the relevant referrals.

Families of children aged 3 to 4 years are welcome to learn more about the HIPPY program. This Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters is a two year, home based early childhood learning program that empowers carers as their child’s first teacher and helps children make a successful transition in to school and beyond. A trained tutor meets once a week with HIPPY families and all of the education books and activities are provided for you.

The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngers (HIPPY) has teamed up with South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) to deliver a fun new playgroup every second Thursday. Playgroups run from 12.00noon to 2.00pm and a bus is available for pick up and drop off.

Our Centre continually offers various different parenting programs and workshops throughout the year and a crèche is provided for the convenience of parents. One of our newest and most exciting programs we have to offer families is the Incredible Years Parent Support program (IY). IY is run every semester and is available to parents of children aged 3 to 8 years. We also offer different children’s workshops from nature play programs to cooking workshops in our beautiful kitchen facility.

We have backpacks full of educational and fun children’s activities that can be borrowed anytime, including Better Beginnings and Let’s Count. Keep an eye out also for our new second hand shelves where you are welcome to children’s items you may need such as clothing, shoes, blankets etc. Items to be donated are kindly accepted.
