We provide a safe and welcoming environment for families to access a variety of services, both on site and around the community.
Roebourne District High School runs KindiLink from our centre Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, during the school term. Positive school experiences are developed through playing and learning together.
Every Wednesday, the child health nurse from Mawarnkarra Health Service, sets up her mobile clinic here. Our neighbouring Early Learning Centre and the KindiLink families access her services frequently. Her doors are open from 9.00am to 1.00pm as a drop in child health clinic, for all families.
Wednesday is quite a busy day for us here at the Child and Parent Centre, as we also support the Yirramagardu Community Program. This program is a joint initiative with Yaandina Family support, Pilbara Aboriginal Heart Health Program, One Tree Community Services and Act Belong Commit Roebourne specific Aboriginal campaign. Designed to support families through every day struggles the program offers art therapy, healthy cooking, exercise, yarning, learning and supporting each other.
We work together with Yaandina Family Support on a Thursday, to run their Family Games Mornings. We help by engaging the children from birth to four years, with educational activities and games. It is a fun time for everyone.
Monday nights we run Mum’s Monday. This is a safe, stress free environment for mums, nanas, aunties, big sister to come and take part in activities that develop good social and emotional wellbeing. Ladies are welcome to sew, cook, do craft, paint, read, yarn, have a cupper or whatever it is that de-stresses them.
Finally, on a Wednesday evening, Pilbara Aboriginal Church runs a Young Mum’s Group. This is where young mums can come to talk about issues, concerns, and hard times together and support each other through it.
We would love for you to visit, maybe even join one of the programs. If you would like more information please come in to see us.
The Child and Parent Centre – Roebourne is managed by One Tree Community Services in partnership with Roebourne District High School.
