About
Welcome to the Child and Parent Centre – South Hedland.
The Child and Parent Centre initiative represents a new way of doing things. Our aim is to work with local agencies and families to put into practice a ‘joined-up thinking’ that provides integrated services that increase health, well-being and school readiness for vulnerable young children and their families.
At our centre we work with some wonderful agencies like Gumala 3A, Kindilink and Child Australia that run playgroups every day for children (0 to 8 years old). These programs are there to support children’s learning and school readiness in a fun and safe environment.
Services and programs currently available at and through the Child and Parent Centre are child health services;
- Child health services, Monday drop in clinic – Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Physiotherapy
- Healthy eating workshops
- Early learning programs
- Supported, universal and targeted playgroups
- Parenting information and support
- Referrals to additional support services
During school holidays, YMCA staff run a holiday program packed with fun activities for families to enjoy as well as a healthy morning tea.
At our centre everyone is welcome so drop in for a cuppa and a chat anytime!
